Doggie Fear

We will be house-sitting for some friends for about a week, and they have a large dog. Emma's fine if he's in his crate, or facing away from her.. but as soon as he turns around or starts walking towards her, she completely freaks out. Does anyone have advice on how to help her with her fear?
My parents have an ancient dachsund, and she's the same way with her! Seriously, this dog is blind and deaf and about 7 inches tall...

That's a hard one. Anjali used to be very afraid of dogs in general till we got her to feed the dogs some treats. Don't know if that will work with Emma. Best of luck!

Laney kind of hates dogs, too, even little ones, like Chihuahuas. We have some good friends who have some sweet dogs, and what seems to work best is once we are there, and the dogs are just kind of around, to just kind of ignore her reaction. (Not if she is really upset, but you know, just don't feed her fear by talking about it a lot?) Eventually, after we are there a while, she gets more used to them? But we still have to start over every time we go over there. Let me know if you find somehting that works!!
